BASF has opened a new 10,000 metric
ton per year methanesulfonic acid
(MSA) plant in Ludwigshafen,
Germany to serve the North
American metal electroplating, electronic
component and chemical
industries. The new plant produces
Lutropur MSA, a colorless and odorless
product that is essentially free of
chlorine and metals.
“This new plant makes BASF one
of the world’s leading suppliers of
methanesulfonic acid,” said Dino
Karanikas, director, performance
chemicals, BASF Corp. “The addition
of this product to our line enables
BASF to be a valuable supplier to
these markets in North America.”
